Analysing A Trailer

I chose to analyse Let Me In. This is a less in your face Horror movie and is an adaptation of Let The Right One In.

As you can see from the youtube bar at the bottom you are shown the title of the film very late in the trailer (2min05s) This might be because you as the viewer should not be confused or led by a title and so with it being shown last you are given a lasting impression and time to process what you just saw.

You are not introuduced to any 'big names' during the trailer however
there are credits at the end listing all producers/directors/actors etc..
The only time your concentration on the trailer is diverted is when ''From the director of cloverfield'' is on screen. This is used a a promotional tool as the movie Cloverfield is a very popular movie that made $170,764,026 at the box office.

Denotation/Connotation

Universal as a title suggests a no discriminatory global brand for all. with the star setting you expect a high budget well directed and produced film. The use of the globe also depicts exploration. The bold outlined font could mean power and stability.
the castle suggests fantasy and and fairy tale tradition. The font 'Walt disney' looks like it has been hand written, personalising the company and seems more inviting for families. The effects of the introduction mean high production value - fairy tale and happy endings.

The Meeting 2 Brief +Planning

After using the small Flip cameras we were given bigger video cameras. We were asked to plan and record another 'meeting' This time i was with two new people. We chose to do a meeting between a husband and wife ask fro a divorce.

Evaluation Of The Meeting

Roles and Responsibilities
Directors: The entire group - Myself, Kally, David, Orgest, Hayley and Adam.

Actors: Kally, David and Hayley

Flip Cameras

This is an image of the cameras we used for this exercise. The red button is for  recording and to play back your recordings you used the left and right arrows and the play/pause button. There is also a USB stick that pops out at the side so you can easily transfer it onto computers.

Editing Programs
David and I were the editors of the film and we used
iMovie, a program installed in all Mac computers

I had used this software before for a GCSE project and to get to grips with the software i created a video with clips from a SCHWEPPES ADVERT i cut the clips in a different order and added other found clips from youtube. I also used a website to download the mp3 ( www.video2mp3.net ) the song is called Terrapin By Bonobo
This is the video i made.

For our video to really work next time i think our group should be smaller. We should also try and incorporate all the camera angles and shot types.

The Meeting planning

The Meeting breif

Our class was split into two groups and each group was given a flip camera and 25 minutes to come up with a clip under a minute long about a meeting. My group chose to use a  meeting between a bully and a geek. It was the first time we had used not only the cameras but filmed a sequence so when we first begun it was tricky getting used to the new technology and planning how to film each shot. However, we soon understood the technology and things got easier. We had to use in camera-editing we were also asked to consider these shot types and camera movements.
  • Close up
  • Mid shot
  • Long shot
  • Shot reverse shot
  • Pan left
  • Pan right
  • Zoom in
  • Zoom out
  • Tilt up
  • Tilt down
  • Framing
